What happens

Detective Danny Clover investigates the death of Sherman Gates, found dead in a movie theater from what appears to be poisoning. The case seems straightforward until Clover discovers Gates visited a photographer the day before and received pictures of cats, and learns that Gates had recently called a woman named Irene Vincent at a fashionable apartment house, complicating the question of whether this was truly a suicide.

Broadway and Manhattan, including a movie theater, the Carnegie Hotel, a photography shop on 10th Avenue, and a fashionable apartment house on East Sixty Street.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
