New York City, primarily Broadway and the Last Friend Club, a veterans' hangout on West 41st Street, in April during the 1950s

Characters: Detective Danny Clover, Harry Gray, Mark Anderson, Della Anderson, Nicki Casserie, Dr. Sinsky, Joel Rios, Sergeant Denison

Listen for: The poetic, noir-tinged narration that opens and closes the episode; the exploration of how war bonds people together and how gratitude can become a burden; the revelation of conflicting loyalties and desperate acts born from complicated friendship.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
