What happens
Detective Danny Clover investigates the death of John Rand, a bedridden invalid whose autopsy reveals he died of alkaloid poisoning rather than natural causes. With the dead man's jealous wife accusing the live-in nurse Bonnie Ward of murder, Clover must track down the nurse before she does something drastic.
New York City, particularly Broadway and police headquarters, during a hot summer day
Characters: Detective Danny Clover, Mugwen, Dr. Sinsky, Dr. Montoya, Mrs. Rand, Bonnie Ward, Angela Kenny
Listen for: The distinctive opening narration about Broadway at noon; the investigation of a poisoning case that may not be what it seems; a tense climax involving a woman on a high ledge threatening to jump.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
