What happens
Detective Danny Clover investigates the stabbing of George Lane, a wealthy businessman found critically wounded in a cheap hotel room registered under a false name. Lane had attended a dinner party at his employee Harry Webster's home the previous evening, where he entertained the family and offered to escort Webster's daughter Sylvia home afterward. Now Clover must determine who wielded the knife and why someone wanted the prominent businessman dead.
Broadway in New York City, a cheap hotel called the Duane Hotel, the Webster family home, and a record shop on 58th Street
Characters: Detective Danny Clover, Detective Denison, George Lane, Harry Webster, Mrs. Webster, Sylvia Webster, Hotel Clerk, Mr. Sussman
Listen for: The distinctive noir narration that opens and closes scenes, establishing the atmosphere of Broadway; details about Lane's activities the night before and his relationships with those around him; clues about why someone would want him dead.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
