What happens
Detective Danny Clover investigates the murder of Frank Briscoe, found shot in his apartment hotel room. A waste basket fire attracts the manager's attention, and a mysterious phone caller named Eddie Cutler is on the line when Clover arrives. The case deepens when a young woman named Della Sloan, who had briefly checked into the same building, is found murdered in her apartment across town.

Characters: Detective Danny Clover, Frank Briscoe, Sylvia Briscoe, Eddie Cutler, Della Sloan, the manager, Taglier, Joseph Petty
Listen for: A clever trap set by Sylvia Briscoe and Eddie Cutler to frame each other for the murders they committed together, with Clover piecing together the pattern of the crimes through a chance phone call that repeats the killer's method.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
