What happens

Detective Danny Clover investigates the murder of a young woman found beaten and thrown from a tenement building. The victim is identified as Eleanor Corbett, the wife of a man who claims he didn't know she had gone out the night before. As Clover questions residents and follows leads, a suspect emerges in the form of Al Martin, a man who saw the victim and whose roommate Frank Hager reveals Martin left town hastily for California.

A tenement neighborhood on Broadway in New York City, with scenes including a backyard where the body is found, tenement rooms, police offices, and a workplace.

Characters: Danny Clover, Detective Muckerman, Mr. Corbett, Eleanor Corbett, Lusk, Al Martin, Frank Hager, Mrs. Bob

Listen for: The atmospheric opening describing the Broadway moon and tenement life; the discovery of the body and initial investigation; the identification of the victim through her husband; the questioning of building residents and the suspicious disappearance of Al Martin to California.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
