What happens
Detective Danny Clover investigates when an old man named Harry Carson is found catatonic in a rooming house, clutching a fired .38 caliber gun and refusing to speak. The detective discovers that Carson's successful lawyer son, Robert, sends his father $150 weekly, but a bank clerk reveals the old man hands the money over to an unknown person every Monday at a street corner. When a man is found shot with a .38, Clover must uncover the connection between the silent father, the secretive money transfers, and the murder.
