What happens

Dan Holiday receives a letter from Simon Andrews requesting that he kill him. When Holiday investigates, he learns that Andrews has paid $25,000 to a man named Benny Franklin to hire an assassin. Franklin turns up dead, and Holiday must track down the mysterious killer named Scott before Andrews becomes the next victim.

A city with a gambling syndicate, cocktail lounges, and various residences including Andrews' house on South Marvin Boulevard and an apartment building where Holiday lives.
