What happens

Dan Holiday receives an anonymous typed letter asking him to come to an apartment to prevent a murder. He arrives to find Pat Kennedy dead, and becomes the prime suspect when he's discovered alone with the body. A mysterious man named Philip Duvall bails him out and reveals he knew the victim, then turns up murdered himself, forcing Holiday to piece together the real killer's identity.

Edgemont, a city three hours away by train, featuring an apartment building on North Greeley Street and police headquarters.
