What happens

Dan Holiday receives a mysterious book of Sir Walter Scott poems in the mail addressed to Box 13, with the sender's identity unknown. The book once belonged to Robert Chase, who died in a fire at his estate Fairmell Rose ten years ago. When Holiday meets Mildred Chase, the surviving daughter, he learns her brother was left paralyzed by the tragedy and still lives in the remaining wing of the burnt mansion.
