What happens
A baseball player named Mike Allen is shot and killed during a game at the ballpark. Inspector Ferris investigates the crime, initially suspecting Boston Blackie, who had received a mysterious phone call from Allen before the game. Blackie is released but later returns to the ballpark at night with his companion Mary to reconstruct the crime and test the inspector's theory about the angle of the fatal shot.
A baseball stadium during and after a day game, and later at night when Blackie returns to investigate.
Characters: Boston Blackie, Inspector Ferris, Mike Allen, Lefty Jones, Mary, Rollins
Listen for: Blackie's clever reconstruction of the crime at second base, where he and Mary test the theory about the shooter's angle from the grandstand; the revelation about two different types of baseball slides and how the victim's position matters to the investigation.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
