What happens

Boston Blackie boards a train from Chicago to New York where he encounters the charming Helen Carrou at dinner. During the meal, a valuable emerald called the Star of the Nile—worth $200,000 and being transported by jeweler executive George Stevens—disappears. Inspector Faraday quickly suspects Blackie of the theft, but Helen provides him with an alibi, forcing the inspector to reconsider his assumptions.

A train traveling between Chicago and New York, primarily in the dining car and during police questioning.

Characters: Boston Blackie, Inspector Faraday, George Stevens, Helen Carrou, Chief Matthews

Listen for: The interplay between Blackie's charm and quick thinking as he navigates suspicion, Faraday's exasperation with Blackie's predictable involvement in crimes, and hints that the real solution may lie in Stevens' own carelessness.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
