Boston Blackie and his friend Shorty discover a body in a park lake that appears to be suicide, but Blackie quickly deduces it's murder. When Inspector Faraday arrives and takes Blackie into custody, the investigation uncovers a $50,000 life insurance policy with the victim's wife as beneficiary, along with suspicious connections to an insurance salesman and a lawyer.
A city park with a lake, police headquarters, the New Northern Life insurance company office, Singer's apartment, and Jenkins' law office
Characters: Boston Blackie, Shorty/Charlie, Inspector Faraday, Mrs. Sarah Walters, Fred Singer, Tom Jenkins, Mary Wesley
Listen for: The clever deduction about the unworn shoes proving the body didn't walk to the lake; the revelation of Mrs. Walters' hidden criminal past under an assumed name; the insurance policy clue that reveals the true killer's identity
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
