What happens

Boston Blackie visits music publisher Joe Hendrix to ask him to consider publishing a mediocre song written by Blackie's friend Mary's cousin. While Blackie is there, Dick Altman, one of Hendrix's contracted songwriting team, is found dead in the music room. Blackie and Mary discover the body, and Inspector Farraday quickly suspects them and the other songwriter, Bill Rutley, whose wife was also present.

Joe Hendrix's music publishing office in the city, where songwriters and composers work in a piano room.

Characters: Boston Blackie, Mary Wesley, Joe Hendrix, Dick Altman, Bill Rutley, Mrs. William Rutley, Inspector Farraday

Listen for: The awful song "In a Blue Canoe with You" that Mary's cousin wrote; the revelation that Dick Altman and Bill Rutley had taken out a hundred-thousand-dollar partnership insurance policy; the discovery of Dick Altman's body in the music room and the initial investigation.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
