What happens

Mrs. Peterson fears her wealthy husband John is plotting to murder her, claiming he needs her life insurance money. When Boston Blackie's friend Mary Wesley overhears a suspicious phone call between John and Mrs. Peterson's lawyer about the insurance policy, Blackie helps Mrs. Peterson go to the police and have John arrested. After John posts bail, Mrs. Peterson is shot dead in her apartment by a rifle rigged to fire when the light switch is turned on.

Boston; Mrs. Peterson's apartment, a lawyer's office, police headquarters, and the lawyer's office again

Characters: Boston Blackie, Mary Wesley, Mrs. Peterson, John Peterson, Inspector Faraday, Frank Brandon, Mrs. Peterson's lawyer, Charlie Everland

Listen for: A clever murder mystery where the solution hinges on a seemingly insignificant detail about a victim's height and footwear.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
