What happens

When Robert Gardner desperately needs $25,000 to keep his wife, he refuses to renew fire insurance on his factory building just as his partner Jim Parker has already cancelled the policy. That night, the building burns down, and Gardner is arrested for arson. Boston Blackie must uncover the real culprit before an innocent man faces conviction.

A city with a factory district, police headquarters, a law office, and the ruined remains of an industrial building

Characters: Boston Blackie, Robert Gardner, Jim Parker, Harriet Gardner, Mary Wesley, Inspector Faraday, Charlie Kingston, Mr. Adams

Listen for: Mary Wesley's skilled voice impersonation of the supposedly dead Mrs. Gardner that tricks Parker into confessing; the clever police strategy of withholding news of finding a body to make the guilty party reveal themselves

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
