What happens

Boston Blackie is present when gambler Joe Garland is shot dead in his home. Locked in an adjoining room during the murder, Blackie becomes Faraday's prime suspect. The only item missing from Garland's safe full of valuable jewels and cash is an ordinary piece of flagstone, which the insurance company had refused to insure for $20,000. When a desperate man named Jack Evans contacts Blackie saying his fiancée's life is in danger and that she knows why Garland was killed for the stone, Blackie rushes to help—only to discover the mystery involves an old blind man's letters.

Boston, primarily in Joe Garland's home and later city streets and police headquarters.

Characters: Boston Blackie, Inspector Faraday, Joe Garland, Charlie Kingston, Mary, Rollins, Wayne (insurance agent), Jack Evans

Listen for: The puzzle of why an ordinary piece of flagstone is worth killing for; Boston Blackie's witty banter with Inspector Faraday as he's accused of murder; the revelation that three people know the stone's true value.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
