What happens

Barry Craig takes a simple confidential job from a mysterious client named Mooney to bid on boxer Boxa Doyle's diamond belt at an auction. When the police take interest in the belt's sale and connect it to Doyle's disappearance years ago, Craig finds himself drawn into a dangerous investigation that his client clearly wants to keep secret.

New York City, including a Times Square penny arcade, a diner, the Phoenix Galleries auction house, a pre-bitten hotel on the East 20s, and police headquarters.

Characters: Barry Craig, confidential investigator, Mooney, Craig's client, Lieutenant Trev, police officer, Tony, diner owner, Mrs. Boxa Doyle, Sam Spyro, Doyle's manager

Listen for: Craig's reflective opening about how a confidential operator's heart can compromise his objectivity, the auction bidding scene, the confrontation at Mooney's hotel where violence erupts, and the police lieutenant's proposition to solve the cold case.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
