What happens
Barry Craig, a confidential investigator, is hired by bail bondsman Sam Salloway to track down Joey Florio, a racketeer who jumped bail with $50,000 of Salloway's money. After a week of fruitless surveillance at the airports, Craig abandons the case—but then discovers a murdered merchant seaman in his office building with a newspaper clipping about Craig's search for Florio in the dead man's pocket.
New York City, including a tavern downtown, the airport, and Barry Craig's office in a midtown fire trap building
Characters: Barry Craig, Sam Salloway, Joey Florio, Polly, the Polish cleaning lady
Listen for: The discovery of the corpse in Craig's office building and the mysterious phone call sending him away from his office just before the murder
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
