Because when the sun first freaks the English channel with light, the two mightiest freets the world has ever known will engage in the greatest sea battle of all time. This epic battle will be the climax of action which has been continuous in the English channel for nine days, ever since the sales of Spain loomed out of the sea off the beaches of Britain.
A cloak of naval security has been flung over this nine-day action in the channel by the English Admiralty. We know little of what has happened. We will know nothing more until dawn. But here beside me now is Sir Walter Raleigh, Commissioner of Cornwall, Commander of Plymouth, advisor to the Queen, and her emissary to the New World, America.
