Bill Leonard in the CBS broadcasting booth at the Broadway tabernacle New York City. Here at the controversial Woman's Rights Convention, now in its second and last day, things are really hot. The weather is hot this evening of September 7, 1853, and the convention for seating are sizzling hot too.
Up to this last session, which is scheduled to start in just a few minutes, the business of this convention has been forced to an absolute standstill. All day long, the convention leaders have tried to bring a set of resolutions to a boat.
And all day long, the great crowd of spectators, drowning in the gallery, have cheered and they just and they've booed. With such an extent that up to this minute anyway, it's been impossible to take a boat.
And that boat, which must be taken tonight or not at all, that boat is crucial to the whole cause of equal rights for women. If the convention succeeds in completing its business, voting on the resolution, it will be a tremendous step forward.
The 10th and 7th, 18th, Broadway, the Covenant. CBS takes you back almost a century to the days of ferment before the Civil War, when for the first time in America, the cry was raised to grant equal rights and the vote to women.

And now, that's number seven, 1853, New United City. CBS broadcast session of this all-important two-day convention. The night's meeting isn't scheduled to begin for a few minutes yet. It's great hall, seating over 2,000 people.
