This is jazz. This is jazz's radio's only live talent presentation of authentic bimbal buyers New Orleans jazz. The writer and elevator is Rudy Blanch, famous jazz critic and author of the recent book, Shining Trumpets, a definitive, colorful history of this American history.

Each week and this time he had his great jazzmen bring you a solid half-hours, a pair of improvised jazz and scenes from his history. So here is Rudy Blanch. Thanks Art Van Horn, here we are, all set to go on the 30-second session of This is jazz.

Our theme song, Way Down Yonder New Orleans, tells you better than words where the sort of jazz we play came from. It all happened 70 or more years ago when the street bands of the Delos City began to sync of pay the old street marches and to improvise on their melodies.

That's where it all began. Soon the bands were all playing all sorts of tunes in jazz style and a great American art had been created. From 1915 to 1930 was the golden period of the art.

And here the All-Star Stompers are all set to bring you a tune from that very period. The crazy blues style, but you know, four of the men of our band are from down there. I don't have to tell you that Baby Dods are great drummer learned to play the early style.

That Pops Foster was the first man to ever slap the string bass. Matter of fact, Pops is playing very hard today because there's a watchful eye on him. His mother, 83 years old, Annie Foster is in for New Orleans, and if he doesn't play, he's going to catch it.
