This is jazz. This is jazz is radio's only a live talent presentation of authentic improvised New Orleans jazz.
The writer and narrator is Rudy Blash, famous jazz critic and author of the recent book, Shining Trumpets, a colorful history of this American music. Each week at this time, he and his great jazz member, you are solid half hour of superb improvised jazz and scenes from its history.
So here is Rudy Blash. And here we are all set to go on the 27th fashion of this is jazz. Well, here we are in Hollywood on location, so to speak. And today we've got a whole guest band to bring New Orleans jazz to you.
Now, no name in jazz has more lustre than the name Edward Kidori. Jazz grew up with him as one of its pioneers, and since 1903, the magic name Kidori has fell tailgate trombone at its greatest.
Playing professionally for 44 years, the kid is right now at the very height of his power. And his Creole jazz band has been making history out here on the Pacific Coast. And now, here's Kid Ora himself.
Well, Ed, it's certainly fine to see you again. Good to see you, Rudy. And glad to have your band on the program here. Here we see. I think you should introduce the men in your band.
What do you say? Good to hear, Rudy. Joe Darris, boy. Andrew, bless me. Mine on home. Mine on home. What's the Wilson? There you go. And that blast, needless to say, was a great kid or himself.
Now, Ed, you know, I wish that you and the boys would do a number that describes the old, traditional New Orleans funeral, in which, after the burying and on the walk homeward, the band that had been playing hymns and dirges began playing their jazzy marches.
