I know many things, but I walk by night. I know many strange things. Hidden in the heart of men and women who had stepped into the shadows. Here, I know the nameless terrors of which they dare not be.

The workforce strength was more than a nightmare. The sound, the images, flashing across the black background of his mind, were too real, too terrifying. At first, nothing was clear to him, but gradually he seemed to be back in Ketchikan, Alaska, his mind going over and over that first chance meeting with Willard Crofton, Pontus, Jovial, Boring Willard Crofton. There was a long, tiresome sip to Crofton's

blobs. The days, the weeks wasted looking for game that just wasn't there. And I went Crofton with his foolish jokes and his guns, shoving another high ball into your hand, and the mother. Then suddenly in a rush it all comes back to you like acid in microgriscerin. The memory of those last wild moments at the lodge exposed in your

mind. Oh, I'm coming all right. I said enough do you hear me? No, see you here, Demisons. I think you are because you can and brought you here because I thought you'd be good company. But if you think I'm going to pay you a passage all the way back to the States, that's exactly what I think. I have listened to your silly

You're looking live and you know it's all real. You're discovering yourself lying full of clay on a bed in a hotel room with a morning sun streaming in the window. But before complete panic and overtake you, you're set by the sound of voices.
