The National Broadcasting Company and its affiliated independent stations present the Pacific Story. In the midst of the fury of world conflict, events in the Pacific are taking on ever greater importance. Here is the story of the Pacific and its peoples, whose destiny is its stake in the Pacific War.
Here is the tale of the war in the Pacific, and its meaning to us and to the generations to come. The Pacific story comes to you tonight from Hollywood and Philadelphia as another public service with drama of the past and present and commentary by Richard J. Walsh, editor of Asia and the America's Magazine, and authority on the Pacific and the Far East.
Who of India? The new man of the new world. We believe this war is a mighty revolution which will only succeed on the basis of freedom of all peoples.
Without India's freedom now it will fail. This is a reason why India's freedom becomes an urgent and immediate necessity and cannot be postponed. This was the last free utterance of Jawaharlal Nehru. He wrote it for a Chinese newspaperman in Bombay on August 8, 1942.
He was speaking for the more than 800 million people of China and India. Nearly one third of the world's population. The next day. Must be a foul. You little fruit! Back there you! Back! Come on!
Back! Holy stones and vegetables! Stop that! They visited Milan, Abol, Akalam, Nazar, and there's Nehru. They've taken him to... Get back to the line! Yeah, they're marching Nehru off! This is a line-time Nehru, I've been taking to jail.
Only places have been out of jail for more than a year at a time. What are they doing there? They're taking the records, the documents of the Congress Party. Where's that pushing? Get back there!
