The life of Riley starring William Bendix. On the hall, Chester A. Riley is a happy man. He's got a good wife, two fine children, a pleasant little home, and a job. But there's a fly in the ointment.

A human fly with the name of Gus Hawkins is the foreman at the plant where Riley's employed. For instance, last Monday. Riley? Riley? Yes, boy. Yes, Mr. Hawkins. Hey, Jewth, with that drill, Grace. You had to hurry it up.

Yes, sir. When you threw, I want you to fix that cut machine and then clean up the machine shop and then... Wait a minute, Hawkins. What am I, a horse? Oh. So you don't like this, Jaby?

Oh, no, no, no. Believe me, I'm a very happy horse. That on Tuesday? Hey, yes, boss. Yes, Mr. Hawkins. Look what you give to this machine. Why, you haven't got the brains of a three-year-old.

I have so. That on Wednesday? Hey, Riley, quick. Here comes the foreman. Hide my cigar. But, kill us. Don't give me that cigar. What did I do with it? Give me a second. Yes, boss. Yes, my dog.

Smoking on the job again, eh? No, no, I wasn't smoking. Don't lie. I saw your head. That's a guy. No, I didn't hide no cigar, Mr. Hawkins. You didn't, eh? Then why are your pants on fire?

Now it's Thursday morning and we find Riley at the breakfast table, pouring out his troubles to the family. Meg, Meg, Meg, that's all the Hawkins does. Always picking on me. Daddy, why don't you tell that Mr. Hawkins all?

I did tell him. Hawkins, I said, you can't treat me like this. I'm a human being. And he said, prove it. He had me there. After all, I can't carry my birth certificate to work.
