The Campbell Playhouse. On the left, the producer. Good evening, this is Orson Welles. Tonight we bring you adventure and romance from the motion pictures. And from motion pictures, one of its newest and most colorful personalities, Miss Paul at Goddard.
The story Al Giers, which I've adapted from the Walter Wanger production, based on the thrilling French story by Detective Ashelby. setting the native quarter known as the Cosper. A regular description of the Cosper last week.
It belongs in tonight's script again. Take my word for it, it's authentic, because believe it or not your humble servant has lived in the Cosper. Like Shanghai and Marseille, Portside and Singapore and Chifu and Macayo, and all the rest of the wild and wicked cities of the world, where anything can happen and everything does,
The Cosper is just as remarkable as the sound of the word, which is its name. A Casper. Look, there before us is Algiers, a modern city, and then suddenly behind that you're in the Cosper.
And from the modern city to the Cosper it's only a step, but ladies and gentlemen, when you take that step, you enter another world. A melting pot for all the sins of the earth. 40,000 inhabitants from all over the world.
Caddles, Chinese, chickpeas, farms, far from home and Maltese. Negroes from every corner of Africa, and Spaniards, hot blooded and quick to hate, and women. Women of every age and every shape, women caught in the net of a cosper.
A cosper which rises like a fortress from the sea. A colorful, thawed it, and dangerous. There isn't just one Casper. There are a hundred, a thousand. And isn't that labyrinth pepe le moco is at home?
