Tuberculosis (PSA)

Now, a while ago, we explained to you veterans and to your families how important it is for patients in veterans' administration, tuberculosis hospitals to cooperate with the doctors. Now, you see, if a tuberculosis patient insists on leaving the hospital prematurely against the advice of his doctor, well, that's his right.

But you can see how dangerous this could be. Danger to the patient himself, in that he drags out his illness, makes his own recovery more difficult. Danger that he may expose to serious infection those he loves best.

family at home. Now therein lies a great responsibility for tuberculosis patients and for their families. Following the doctor's advice may be hard but it's sure to be wise. Remember your doctor wants you to get well just as soon as possible.

He's doing his part conscientiously. Do yours. Accept his professional advice. Stay in the hospital until your VA doctor tells you that you're well enough to go home.
