Margaret Sullivan, James Stewart, Frank Morgan. Screen Guild Theatre. Your host and director of the Star's own theatre, Roger Pryor. Good evening, everyone. On behalf of your neighborhood good golf, delivering the Gulf Oil Company's, welcome back to the Gulf Screen Guild Theatre.
Right now, the Gulf Theatre is the most exciting place this Hollywood of ours has seen in months. Out front in the audience are many of the greatest and motion pictures and radio. Right beside me here on the stage are Margaret Sullivan, James Stewart and Frank Morgan, whom you'll hear later in tonight's play,
The Shop Around the Corner. Behind me, of course, is Oscar Bradley's go for orchestra, with Frank Tours conducting, and facing me across the microphone is one of the grandest fellows in Hollywood or anyplace else, a great actor and a president of the Motion Picture Relief Fund, Jean Herschel.
Jean has something to say. Ladies and gentlemen, the garbs queen guilt theta means more to our seren Hollywood than you probably realize. Soon just outside of Hollywood, a community completed itself will be built. A community that will provide a home for the less fortunate men and women of the motion picture industry, who, because of some quirk of faith,
can no longer provide for themselves. And we owe all this to the garth theta. But the money that would ordinarily go to the stars, what they are here. Golf gives instead to the motion picture we need fun.
So as we start our third season, I want to thank the golf people, and all the stars who have helped make the golf theater our theater. I'm proud to be associated with them. Thank you.
