ep20 Alabam and Tenderfoot Are Guarding the Herd

Life on the Red Horse Ranch. And now, we'll join the outfit from Red Horse Ranch.

You'll remember that Mr. Carter put Steve Bradford in charge of the outfit following Alabam's injury. The Alabama couldn't stay away from the rounder, so in spite of Bradford and the big boss, he rode off to join the outfit.

It's night. While several of the boys are singing around the campfire, Alabama and Tenderfoot are out guarding the herd. Lay down the herd, you doggies. Nothing's going to hurt you. Lay down. Isn't it quiet out here tonight, Alabama?

Just that cattle call. Way over there. If he or takes old Texoans to make them lie down, if they all sang like Tex, I don't reckon that it ever be in the stampedes. The cows are a little nervous tonight, aren't they?

Yeah, they're bound to be, but we'll have them all back at the ranch before long though. Too soon for me. I'm surprised to hear you say that, ten of a foot. What do you suppose Rose would say to that?

Oh, Rose. Oh, of course I would like to see her. I don't know. This. Out here under the stars. It's what I came out west for. It's something no cowboy could do without ten of it. Living. Working and sleeping. Out under the open sky.

You know, Alabama, it isn't just what I expected. No. Everyone talked about how rough the west was. Shoot and fight. It's not like that. I reckon it couldn't be. Of course there's men in this country that don't know no law, but they own.

But, well, take that song now that boys are singing over there for the campfire. I reckon it was his first song with some buckaroo out riding knighthood, just like we are now. Cowboys heaven. I've been listening.
