ep12 Rose Talks with Her Father

Wake up, son! Steve Bradford has made Sam Carter an offer for his Redhorse ranch.

Carter, who has suffered financial reverses during the winter, may be forced to sell. So far, no one has been able to find out what Bradford wants with this property and other ranches which he has already purchased.

It's evening. Rose is sitting on the broad verand of the ranch house, listening as the boys sing, down at the bunkhouse. Your bright eyes and sweet smile, For they say you are taking the sunshine.

The bright ends our pathway of one, Think of the mouset. Out of your dead on the veranda, Please come out and sit down a while. Yes, I might as well. Anything on your mind rolls?

Something your old dad don't know about? No, of course not. I was just listening to the boys down in the bunkhouse. Oh, don't you love to hear them sing? Yes. They sing as well as the punch cattle.

They are in a better, more loyal outfit and the whole race than they are. I know, Alabama, Tex, Bob, Tenderfoot, Cheyenne, and all the rest. They always seem so happy, don't they? Yes, and still there ain't a one of them that knows where his next peas are coming from.

He yet they haven't made one word to complain about it. Oh, but Dad, they feel just like I do, that everything's gonna be alright, that you're not going to have to give up the ranch.

You have? I wish I felt so sure. I... I didn't want you to know, Rose. But why shouldn't I know, Dad? You'd have told Mother before she died. Yes, Rose. And... And somehow Mother would have pulled us through.
