Case of the Desert Killer

One of the real headaches of my job is the unwary person who walks into the trap of a confidence game. If these people are lucky, they lose only their money. All too often, as you will hear in the case that follows, they also lose their lives.

This heat, I never saw such country. It's a desert, what you expect. I'll be glad to get out of it, I can tell you that. You'll be glad to get the money too, aren't you?
