Lux presents Hollywood. The Lux Radio Theater brings you Wallace Bury and Marjorie Rambo in the bugle sounds with Noah Bury. Ladies and gentlemen, your producer, Mr. Cecil B. DeMille. Greetings from Hollywood, ladies and gentlemen. Any history of motion pictures is bound to include a chapter entitled Wallace Bury.
The average star has a screen life of only a few years. Wally faced his first camera in 1913. I directed him in a picture myself almost 25 years ago, and how many players of those days are still top stars.
Wally's life has been a quest of adventure. From the time he left home to join the circus as an elephant trainer, until more recent days when he found excitement in the skies, piloting his own friend. And you can always find adventure in one of Wally's pictures.
like the Metro Golden Mayor hit the bugle sounds, or like the present one he's working on over there, salute to the Marines. With Wally tonight, we present that very accomplished actress of both stage and screen, Miss Marjorie Rambo, and also Wally's brother, Noah Derry.
In the bugle sound you'll hear Wally as a cavalry sergeant, an old timer, out of place in a day of tanks and radios. In every enterprise it takes the old timers and the newcomers to make the wheels go round, especially in Hollywood, where every year brings a new crop of young players to the front.
What amazes me is that each crop of starlets seems more beautiful than the last, but perhaps the half-lucks toilet soap has something to do with that. Imagine for a moment that you're in a darkened projection room, watching a screen test with with a group of producers and directors.
