Summer Series - Buying Engagement Ring ( #48)

For you, servicemen and women of the United Nations, it's another rebroadcast of the Village Store. In the absence of Joan Davis and Jack Haley, management of the Village Store has been turned over to Edward Evert-Horton.

New kind of dance to do and dance. Romance with lovely Penny Cartwright has been progressing nicely.

And now, as we look in on the little store, we find Eddie thumbing through the pages of a wholesale jewelry catalog, looking for an engagement ring. They certainly display some beautiful engagement and wedding rings in this catalog.

Oh dear, oh, oh, oh, here's a wonderful buy. Start your wife on a happy married life, only 8750. Special triple combination engagement ring, wedding ring, and brass knuckles. Oh, oh, Penny's a wonderful, wonderful girl.

How dare say that she's the first breath of spring. That's what she is, the first breath of spring. Oh, no, Mr. Horton. Oh, here comes the first cyclone of winter. Hello, Mrs. Blimp. Hello. How are you today?

Oh, just blended. By Eddy. What are you looking through that puree catalogue for? Oh, you mean this? Oh, I don't know. I was looking for an engagement ring. Oh, Eddy! This is so sad. No, you care.

Bombs and sweeps me off my feet. Blimp, please. The whole city street cleaning department couldn't do that. Oh, I'm sorry, Blampy. I'm office. I really, I didn't mean it. Well, honestly, Eddie will be so happy.

Oh, I can just picture us in our little loveless. Every night when you can hold the word, I will sing to you. Why, I'll serenade you right now, Eddie, dear. Oh, oh, oh, oh. Pardon me, pardon me. Are you serenading me or ferding on the ball?
