I hear those echoes call again skip to my Lou gone again skip to my Lou gone again skip to my Lou skip to my Lou My time well well howdy neighbors this is Tom Scott and the voices you hear belong to the famous golden gate quartet together we'd like to bring you the songs that grew up with our country

Songs of the mountains, the rivers, the prairies, and the men who traveled over them. Songs that tell the story of the hopes and joys, the laughter and the tears that went into the building of our land are America.

Gone again, skip to my dole, skip to my dole, I guess there's no sound that'll start you foot a tapping quicker than a real old-time banjo. It's America's own instrument. It followed the steamboats up and down the rivers. It went west with the covered wagons across the Rockies, and everywhere it went, it cheered the hearts of men. So come on boys, cheer us up and ring, ring the

banjo. Well the time is never dreary if the children never groans. Well it is never weary With the rattle of the bomb again Susan up By the gaslight of the moon We'll tune the old piano When the banjo's out of tune Then ring, ring the banjo As water, children has no trouble While they got this song to sing

The beauties of creation will never lose a charm While I roam the old plantation With my true love to wipe your eyes Money, but I'll come and get my honey, if I have to work my way well now."

Stephen Foster first wrote the melody for old folks at home. The subject of his song was the P.D. River. But P.D. didn't seem to set right with him, so he asked his brother Morrison to suggest another river. Well, Morrison came up with a stream running through Florida and Georgia.
