I'll listen to Father Knows Best, transcribing Robert Young as Father. This spring, at another half hour visit with the folks in the White Frame House on Maple Street.

Sit back and enjoy life with the Anderson. Kathy, Bud, Betty, Margaret and Jim. As the head of this typical American household again sets out to prove that Father Knows Best. due to either purely biological accident or to some higher prearranged plan, some children or boys and some or girls.

The results of this plan are not always universally satisfactory to the young specimens involved. Such is currently the case with the smallest member of the family occupying the White Frame House on Maple Street, one Cathy Anderson.

Life as a girl she feels is much too limiting, and to prove that she can cite innumerable incidents such as... Well, for example, the incident that occurred while Cathy was playing on the back porch early one afternoon.

Like this. What are you doing out here? You're shaking the whole house. Hi, Mommy! Cathy, stop this awful racket. Cathy! Bring a car. I'm going to Detroit. Well, I can't stand the noise. Build it someplace else.

I can't. Somehow I got a nail to the porch and I can't get it loose. How do you expect to get to Detroit if your car is nailed to the porch? Oh, I'm not going in this. I'm just building this standard, the soapbox derby.

Cathy, the soapbox derby is for boys, not girls. Oh gosh, that's all I hear for boys. Everything's for boys. Oh, now Cathy, girls can do just as many things as boys. Can girls join the YMCA?

Oh well, no. There you see. Yeah, but boys can't join the YWCA. And girls can. Who wants to join it if there's no boys in it? Well, I'm not going to stand out here arguing with you all day.
