ep18 Patience Plans On Leaving

There's music in there! Down our way! Some old-fashioned singing by a group of friendly folks who'd like to be your neighbors for the next little while. They live in a town just like yours. The best fun they have is when they all gather for singing practice at Eli Jenkins.

Eli leads the singing group besides being town-grosser and sheriff. And as if that's not enough to keep a man busy, there always seems to be some kind of trouble to speak now. At the moment it's patient's P-boy. Now strictly speaking, patients wants two things out of life.

She wants a husband and she wants to sing soprano with the group. She blames everybody in general for not having a husband, but she blames Eli in particular for her not singing soprano. Here you've let the new teacher come into your group to sing soprani.

I tell you Eli Jenkins I had priority in this house. You can have all the priority in the world patients and it still don't make up for talent. I like that. Now now don't get your feathers ruffled.

People don't all have a talent for the same thing. Now you make the best hot chocolate in all the world and your old meal cookies ain't going to take second place to nobody. But when it comes to singing patience, well that's when you'd better stick to cookie making.

That settled it. I've had enough of these here in salt. For years I've been trying to get back with a singing book down our way and now I'm through. But the only time he was ever with this group was the summer old Mr. Malloy took over for me and he was a deep he couldn't hear a fire engine a block away.
