What happens

Lou Costello decides he wants to sing on the program and abandons his comedy routines to become a crooner like Bing Crosby. Bud Abbott challenges him, pointing out that Crosby trained for years in opera and that Costello knows little about music. The two visit Tin Pan Alley, the New York music publishing district, to find Costello an original song. The episode is an Abbott and Costello radio comedy from December 7, 1944, broadcast on NBC and ABC, and the leads are Bud Abbott and Lou Costello, with Connie Haines and Freddy Rich also appearing.

Listen for: Costello's attempt at singing and his misunderstandings of musical terms, including bars, flats, and notes.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
