What happens

Lou Costello, a brash and boastful man, faces a run of bad luck, from a wrecked car and a house lost to a fire to a bank robbery and a supposed kidnapping of Bud Abbott's wife. The episode of the Abbott and Costello series, first broadcast on May 26, 1948, on NBC and ABC, has Costello and Abbott pulled into a comic scheme involving bandits and a ransom payment. The story then turns to a mysterious invitation that sends the pair toward the Foreign Legion, and Costello takes it all with his usual bluster. Bud Abbott and Joe Kirk appear in the leading roles, with Elvia Allman and Connie Haines also featured.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
