What happens

Bud Abbott and Lou Costello, playing themselves in the Abbott and Costello radio program, return to Hollywood from New York and find themselves short of money. Their landlady, Mrs. Niles, insists on the overdue rent, and Costello's wasteful spending has left them with nothing. Abbott suggests they help his cousin at the bakery, which leads to a confused exchange over whether they need dough or need the dough for rent. Locked out of their apartment, the pair try a series of schemes to find money and a place to sleep, with help from acquaintances such as Tessie and the actress Bessie Mae Mucho. The program was broadcast on NBC and ABC in 1946, starring Abbott and Costello. The episode is a comedy of misunderstandings and attempts to make quick money.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
