What happens

Effie and her husband Hank live in an underground shelter after a nuclear war, where surface radiation is considered deadly. Effie opens a lead shutter and sees the moon, then meets Patrick, a man who has lived outside for a year and claims the dust no longer harms him. Patrick tells Effie that the outside world has become beautiful and that new children are being born there. Hank arrives home and confronts Patrick, and the three of them argue over whether the surface is safe. The story is an episode of X Minus One, first broadcast on January 2, 1957, adapted from a story by Fritz Leiber.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
