What happens
Dana Marin, a biological control officer, and Executive Haffner lead a colonial team on the newly settled planet Glade. The colonists discover that small mammals on the planet are eating their clothing and stores, and the animals quickly change in size and form. Marin and Haffner try mechanical cats, terriers and rifles to control the infestation, while Marin studies the planet's geological and biological history.
