Commander Zareem Lassen leads shock troops who have invaded a vast living macro-organism, an enormous creature they intend to colonize and bring under control. Working through its blood vessels, nerves and tunnels, his crews battle intense heat, a deafening pulse and violent convulsions while trying to tap into the creature's senses and speech. Lassen's psychotechnician, Perak, has doubts about the project and the cost in lives. The episode is part of the X Minus One science fiction radio series, first broadcast on November 28, 1957, and the cast includes Bernard Lenrow as Commander Lassen and Edwin Cooper as Perak. Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
