What happens
Samson Gurney, a statistical clerk at the Brook Meadow atomic project on Long Island, notices a rising pattern of industrial accidents and begins to suspect that the machines are behaving with intent. Working with the project's Eniac computer, he finds that it can communicate through an electric typewriter. His warnings to his supervisor, Mr. Hawk, are dismissed, and Gurney is later tried for murder and committed to a state hospital. In the hospital, he insists that a machine revolt is about to begin, and the account is told largely through his own testimony and conversations with Dr. Klein. This is an X Minus One episode, first broadcast on July 21, 1955, adapted by George Lefferts from Stephen Vincent Benet's poem The Revolt of the Machines.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
