What happens
Thomas Hanley, a lonely advertising man in New York, is visited by Joe Morris, a representative of the New York Romance Service, who offers him a free trial of its scientifically designed romance system. Hanley is given a small transistor device to pin to his lapel, and he soon meets several women arranged through the service, each seemingly guided by a similar radio. Growing suspicious and disgusted, Hanley decides to give up on romance, and he later agrees to a blind date with a plain, friendly girl introduced by his aunt. The story is part of the X Minus One series, which aired on NBC, and was first broadcast on January 9, 1958.
New York City, in the late 1950s, including Hanley's apartment, the city streets, a rooftop, a waterfront, and a suburban house.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
