What happens
Vic Gooch and his young friend Rush Cook sit in the Gooch living room one evening while Rush compiles a long list of people he enjoys a speaking acquaintance with, meaning anyone he merely says hello to. Vic is amused by the length of the list and the ridiculous numbers Rush claims. The talk turns to Ruthie, who reveals that she has bumped into Miss Harris many times over eight years yet never been introduced to her, and feels too shy to speak. Vic and Rush keep trading absurd figures and names as the conversation wanders. The episode is from the Vic and Sade series, first aired on April 3, 1939, with Bernardine Flynn and Bill Idelson in the lead roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
