What happens

Vic and Sade is an NBC/CBS/Mutual radio serial, here an episode first aired on 1942-02-24, with Bernardine Flynn and Bill Idelson in the lead roles. Uncle Fletcher, late in the evening, cannot get his shoes off because his rawhide shoestrings have knotted tight in the cold. Vic and Sade's household gathers to help, and each member offers a different idea. Uncle Fletcher fumbles with a hairpin, a nail file and a seagull feather, and the family trades stories of past trouble with footwear, including the tale of a man named Malvina Atkins and his mismatched shoes. The talk wanders, and the household slowly turns toward bedtime.

A family home in the evening, where the household is gathered to help Uncle Fletcher with his stuck rawhide shoestrings before bed.

Characters: Uncle Fletcher, Vic, Sade, Bill Idelson

Listen for: The rambling stories about Malvina Atkins and his mismatched shoes, and the repeated attempts to untie the stubborn rawhide knots.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
