What happens
Frank Maloy walks out of the district attorney's office on $10,000 bond, planning to flee the country with his companion Vivian before his trial. He suspects his wife Martha betrayed his gambling syndicate to the district attorney, and he goes to the ranch to confront her. On the highway he nearly strikes a drifter named Chuck, and when Vivian suggests he resembles Frank, Frank begins to shape a scheme around him. Frank gives Chuck a job offer and a suit. The story is part of The Whistler on Signal Oil's program, first broadcast on July 27, 1952, starring Bill Forman as the Whistler.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
