What happens

Christine McKay, a visitor to Crescent Bay, Florida, rents a room at the house of Mrs. Agnes Drake, a gracious widow who seems glad of the company. That night Christine wakes and sees a man carrying a body along the hall, and she believes she has witnessed a murder. When she reports the matter the next morning, the man is Henry Drake, a respected police commissioner, and he insists that his wife has been away in Fort Lauderdale. Christine must decide whether to trust what she saw, and whether she can make anyone else believe it. The Whistler series is presented in this episode, first broadcast on December 9, 1946.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
