What happens

Elaine Waterford schemes to gain the Waterford fortune after her cousin Richard announces his engagement to Margaret Winters. Richard's father, Richard Waterford Sr., has forbidden the marriage, and tensions run high between father and son. Elaine, who has long resented the family wealth, sends a wire to a San Francisco office, and the situation tightens as the father and son quarrel. Her scheming gathers pace as she arranges events in the household. The Whistler series, first broadcast on April 22, 1946, presents this episode of its crime drama.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
